The big rental companies want you to rent your water heater for a good reason. They make a lot of money from it, and they want to discredit local businesses offering alternatives, like us.
Before you take the big companies’ claims to heart, see what we have to say about it.
They say: Installation is expensive when you buy, if you can find a technician to install one at all.
This is 100% false, like the other claims in this list.
Frist, we’re right here in Burlington and we service all of Halton region. So you’ve already found your technician to install the new unit.
Second, the cost of installation is included in your regular, manageable payment. The same way it is included in your rental agreement. There is no extra installation fee tacked on.
They say: Renting is the only way to get a competitive monthly payment, and if you buy your unit, you’re stuck with a large payment right away.
Renting is the only path to endless payments, but certainly not the only path to a competitive monthly payment.
In many cases the monthly payments associated with owning are lower than the cost of renting. You can find out if your cost of ownership will be lower right here on our sister site.
You also aren’t stuck with a big immediate payment on your purchased unit. Unless you want to pay for it all at once. That’s your choice. You can also pay in regular installments, just like a rental contract. The only difference being you own the unit and your payments eventually stop.
Right now, your rental provider’s agreement allows them to increase your payments by up to 3.8% every year. Over the course of a typical 15 year contract you could be paying 45% more than when you started. When your contract expires, you sign on for a new one and the payments continue.
They say: The work quality of a local contractor is questionable.
Our technicians are held to the highest standards in the HVAC industry. It’s part of the requirement of all ClimateCare members.
We update our technical education and training regularly, and are held to the We CARE promise of
We stand behind our workmanship 100%.
They say: Parts and labour can cost you hundreds of dollars when the heater breaks down.
Maintenance is included in the purchase of your new water heater.
- Every 12-18 months for tankless units.
- Every 3-4 years for tank units.
We include this so your water appliance doesn’t break down in the first place. And we call you to schedule your maintenance so you never miss it. When was the last time your water heater rental company called to schedule maintenance? When was the last time they called you to discuss anything other than an up sell?
They say: Your local contractor isn’t as reliable as theirs and will charge diagnostic fees to uncover any problems.
We are available all day every day. We guarantee a response to your call within an hour, even if it’s 3am. It’s part of our commitment to reliability.
But let’s pretend that wasn’t the case.
This claim relies on problems with your water heater, and most of our clients never experience a water heater issue. That’s because we provide proactive maintenance as part of your purchase, not reactive repairs when something goes wrong.
Anything that might be starting to go wrong, we’ll catch and repair under warranty. There are no diagnostic fees.
The big rental companies don’t want you to move away from the rental culture because it’s an easy way for them to make money. Sure, we want your business. But we also save you money. It’s a win-win.
